My career as a florist began at Safeway in the flower shop. My experience led me to becoming a full-time florist, where I began managing a store in Reston and ultimately became the owner of Galleria Florist in Falls Church, VA.
I was fortunate to work with individuals throughout the area and serve as a mentor for new business owners and creatives along the way.
Through our shared love of flowers, Barbara Cram, a Falls Church icon and owner of Greenscape, and I became close friends and collaborators.
Barbara Cram designed and maintained many public garden displays and was a member of the Falls Church Home and Gardens Tour Fundraiser, where her perfectly designed gardens were a featured attraction on the route. Cram was not only the President of Falls Church Arts for 10 years, but also supported and volunteered in all local events ultimately becoming the Grand Marshall for the Falls Church Memorial Day Parade in 2017.
Under her leadership, Falls Church Arts grew significantly and is now regionally recognized as an artists’ destination. Most importantly, her greatest passion was helping young artists reach their potential. She freely provided her time, resources and energy to the community. Many days she could be found sharing her knowledge of horticulture and advised many about plants and landscaping.
She has influenced so many of us over the years, setting an amazing example of service to her community. Her enormous legacy in Falls Church is unmatched and she is sorely missed. My love and appreciation for Barbara Cram, her work and friendship is immeasurable.
